ALTEN is now looking for a junior project leader / hardware design leader (HWDL) for an assignment towards one of our clients within the automotive industry. In this role, you will combine technical understanding with cross-functional coordination, acting as a key support to the engineering project organization throughout the product development process.

About the role

As a Hardware Design Leader, you will work closely with the Project Manager Engineering and support the coordination of hardware development activities within powertrain projects. You will help follow up design status, build plans, verification activities, and delivery schedules, ensuring alignment across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.

The role can be described as a junior project management position with a strong technical focus. You will act as a central point of contact within the project, driving communication, coordinating activities, and ensuring that information is shared efficiently throughout the organization.

Main responsibilities

• Coordinate hardware development activities throughout the project lifecycle
• Support planning and follow-up of build plans, delivery schedules, and verification activities
• Plan and lead component management meetings and follow-up activities
• Monitor project status and drive actions to resolve deviations
• Support project teams with technical coordination and information sharing
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, verification teams, and project managers
• Contribute to concept discussions and design coordination activities
• Act as a key contact regarding overall design status and project progress

Your profile

You are an outgoing and driven person who enjoys taking initiative and creating structure. You have strong communication skills, thrive in collaborative environments, and are motivated by coordinating people and activities towards a common goal.

We see that you have:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent
• An interest in technology, product development, and preferably powertrain systems
• Experience from engineering projects, product development, or technical coordination
• Experience working with PDM systems or similar product data management tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Meritorious:

• Experience from the automotive industry
• Experience in project coordination, project management, or technical leadership
• Experience from powertrain or hardware development
• Experience with tools such as KOLA, SPOT, PTM, Jira, or similar systems
