From office assistant and student ambassador to mechanical designer – get to know Linnéa, Civil Engineer within production and product design
The engineering profession caught Linnéa’s interest when she was young thanks to her strong interest in math and technology. Her first meeting with ALTEN was when she had finished her bachelor’s degree and wasn’t sure if she wanted to continue to a master’s degree or start working. She decided to continue her studies to become a civil engineer within production and product design and simultaneously started working as an office assistant and Student ambassador at ALTEN in Västerås. After her graduation in June of 2020, she began as a consultant and almost immediately got an assignment as a mechanical designer at ABB Robotics in Västerås.
What was your first impression of ALTEN?
I had heard about ALTEN during my studies and got a recommendation from another student to send in an application. My first impression was that the company was very welcoming and innovative. I got a feeling that the employees came in firsthand at ALTEN because of the focus on making each individual thrive here, which made me curious. When I started work, I really felt that my first impression was true.
What do you appreciate the most working as a consultant at ALTEN?
Partly it’s because I really enjoy working with the managers and my other co-workers. It’s easy to be a part of the group here. I also appreciate that there are so many ways that I can get involved in projects in addition to my consulting assignment, for example Women@ALTEN which is a network for women within ALTEN to hang out and exchange experiences.
What’s the most fun part of your job?
That it’s so varying! It’s always fun to go to work. I love working with CAD, which I have got the opportunity to do a lot of, but there are also other exciting tasks which keeps it varying and fun.
What do you do when you are not working?
I love being outside so that’s where you’ll find me. I take a lot of walks with my dog and I also like to play fetch with him. If I don’t exercise with him, I hang out in the stable (of course with the dog)!
