CSR
transforming innovation into social & environmental value
Corporate Social Responsibility at ALTEN is anchored in a long‑term vision of responsible growth. It shapes how we support our people, deliver projects, and engage with our ecosystem, by integrating ethical principles and sustainability into everyday decisions.
Our CSR approach focuses on creating an inclusive and engaging work environment, contributing to social well‑being through concrete initiatives, and advancing environmental responsibility through innovation. Together, these priorities guide our actions and reflect ALTEN’s ambition to generate lasting impact through technology and thoughtful growth structured around three core CSR pillars:

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Equality in science, engineering, and technology remains a global challenge. Structural barriers, social norms, and unequal access to opportunities continue to influence career pathways, often limiting women’s participation and progression. As a multinational company operating at the heart of innovation, ALTEN recognises its responsibility to contribute to meaningful and lasting change. We believe that inclusive workplaces foster individual fulfilment, strengthen collective performance, and support sustainable growth.

Women@ALTEN
Diversity and inclusion are key drivers of innovation and long‑term success. We strive to create a working environment where differences are valued, equal opportunities are promoted, and everyone feels empowered to contribute and thrive. One of the ways we bring this commitment to life is through employee‑led initiatives.
Women@ALTEN is a dynamic community across our offices in Sweden, where our employees come together through dedicated events and discussions to share experiences and foster confidence in a traditionally male‑dominated field.
Open to students and anyone interested in careers in engineering and IT, this network creates opportunities to discover career paths and inspire future talent to consider careers at ALTEN and within STEM fields.

Last March, we hosted a panel discussion bringing together three panellists to share diverse perspectives on gender equality. The session focused on a crucial and often overlooked topic: how bias influences everyday decision‑making, and what we as individuals and organisations can do to recognise and address it.
Each spring, we take part in Vårruset, a well‑known Swedish event that promotes physical activity and wellbeing for women supporting women. It is an opportunity for colleagues to connect, strengthen team spirit, and highlight the importance of health and inclusion at work. Discover the perspectives of Sanna, Linn, and Sofia on what Vårruset and being part of Women@ALTEN mean to them.
Women@ALTEN hosted an inspirational evening discussing leadership and the challenges of thriving in a male-dominated industry. During the evening, six inspiring professionals shared their experiences, challenges, and best practices for anyone eager to meet and learn from female perspectives within STEM fields.
Cross‑cultural environment
ALTEN’s commitment to diversity and inclusion also extends to cultural diversity and international collaboration. Our team members represent over 25 different nationalities, and our teams reflect a truly international working environment where global perspectives and Swedish business culture meet.
To support employees relocating from different countries, ALTEN offers dedicated onboarding and integration initiatives, including relocation support, introduction to Swedish work culture, and Swedish language courses.
By encouraging cross‑cultural teamwork and providing practical tools for social and professional integration, we aim to create an inclusive environment where international talent feels supported to strengthen collaboration and a strong sense of belonging across our teams.

Save the Children
As part of its social responsibility commitments, ALTEN is proud to support Hjulverkstan, a community initiative run by Save the Children (Rädda Barnen) that promotes inclusion, mobility, and empowerment for children and families in underserved urban areas.
The initiative provides free bicycle repairs, lending services and cycling education, but also serves as a safe meeting point, a learning environment and, for many young people, a first connection to working life.
ALTEN teams contributed to the initiative’s digital development, reflecting our approach to social responsibility through the practical application of engineering expertise.

Blodomloppet
ALTEN places strong emphasis on promoting health and well‑being among its employees. By encouraging participation in initiatives that combine physical activity with solidarity, we support both individual well‑being and a sense of collective responsibility within the organisation.
Each year, employees take part in Blodomloppet (The Blood Run) through several cities across the country. This nationwide event brings colleagues together in support of an important cause: raising awareness about blood donation and preventive health. By participating collectively, our teams strengthen bonds, promote an active lifestyle, and help highlight the vital role of blood donors.
These initiatives reflect our belief that social responsibility also starts within the organisation.

Pink October & Movember
ALTEN has launched coordinated initiatives across its offices to support global awareness campaigns such as Pink October and Movember. Through local actions and collective participation, these campaigns aim to open dialogue around cancer prevention, early detection, and overall well‑being.
These initiatives create shared moments of engagement and reflection, reinforcing a culture of care and solidarity within the organisation. They also align naturally with ALTEN’s strong presence in the Life Sciences sector, where health and innovation are central themes, highlighting the close link between our societal commitments and the expertise we develop for our clients.

ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION
This last pillar, around environmental responsibility and sustainable innovation, is embedded in both our client activities and our internal practices. Through projects, our teams contribute to solutions that support sustainability objectives across industries, ranging from energy efficiency and resource optimisation to sustainable technologies and life‑cycle thinking. In parallel, ALTEN engages locally to encourage sustainable behaviours to mobilise employees and reflect on environmental impact.
Together, these actions illustrate our ambition to combine responsible operations, client‑driven innovation, and employee engagement in support of a more sustainable future.

Sustainable Commitment
ALTEN continues to strengthen its environmental and sustainability commitments in line with Group‑level ambitions. Building on previous engagements, ALTEN is aligned with international frameworks such as the UN Global Compact Climate Ambition Accelerator and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
In this context, ALTEN is working towards defining and implementing climate targets and a long‑term roadmap in accordance with recognised scientific standards.

Looking ahead, ALTEN’s environmental actions are structured around several key priorities:
- Increasing the use of renewable energy in company premises, to reach a high share of renewable energy within the CSR scope
- Improving energy efficiency across buildings and offices
- Reducing the environmental footprint of IT infrastructure and equipment
- Encouraging the use of more sustainable and low‑impact modes of transport
- Integrating environmental criteria into supplier and partner assessments, with a focus on carbon emissions
- Strengthening the monitoring and awareness of carbon emissions across international operations
These focus areas provide a structured framework for ALTEN’s environmental efforts and support continuous progress toward more sustainable operations and innovation.
Environmental awareness initiatives
In parallel with client projects, local initiatives play an important role in strengthening environmental awareness within the organisation.
ALTEN actively engages its employees during Sustainable Development Week and World Environment Day, creating opportunities to share knowledge and highlight practical actions linked to sustainability. Through awareness‑raising initiatives across offices, these moments help reinforce a shared understanding of environmental challenges and promote responsible behaviours in everyday professional life.

Projects with environmental impact
Sustainable innovation is driven by collaboration. Across our activities, ALTEN works closely with clients, public stakeholders, research institutions, and industry partners to develop projects that address environmental and societal challenges. By combining engineering expertise and a shared commitment to sustainability, these collaborations support the development of responsible and forward‑looking solutions.
ALTEN’s role goes beyond technical delivery. We’re turning sustainability ambitions into concrete, scalable projects. Through these partnerships, we contribute to initiatives that respond to today’s needs while helping shape more sustainable systems for the future.

ALTEN has contributed to Ride the Future, a research and innovation project in Linköping that explores how autonomous electric shuttles can enhance public transport and support more sustainable urban mobility.
The long‑standing collaboration with Vattenfall AB has been renewed through a new three‑year framework agreement, reinforcing a trusted role within Sweden’s energy sector. Engineering expertise supports nuclear, hydro, and wind power, contributing to safe, reliable, and sustainable energy production.
