ALTEN in Sweden is expanding our HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) rig team and looking for a skilled Rig Development Engineer to join our group of 8 engineers in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Based on-site, you’ll play a key role in building, maintaining, and developing test rigs for 6 subsystem rigs, ensuring cutting-edge test solutions for our clients in the automotive and embedded systems industries.

About the role

As a Rig Development Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our HIL test rigs. Your work will span the entire lifecycle—from concept and construction to commissioning and troubleshooting—ensuring robust and efficient test solutions.

You’ll collaborate closely with ECU specialists, test engineers, and system architects, using tools like Vector CANoe, CAPL scripting, and C#/Python to automate tests, simulate bus communication, and develop custom tooling. Your expertise in electronics, communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and MAZE technology will be key to optimizing rig performance.

 

Your main responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain HIL/SIL test rigs from concept to operation
  • Develop automated test scripts using CAPL, C#, and Python
  • Configure and simulate bus communication (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) with Vector CANoe
  • Interpret ECU specifications and translate requirements into rig design
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, ensuring rig reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize test processes
  • Document rig setups, test procedures, and maintenance protocols

Your profile

We’re looking for a proactive and structured engineer with a passion for test automation and embedded systems. You thrive in hands-on environments and enjoy solving complex technical challenges.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Proven background in HIL/SIL test environments
  • Hands-on experience with test rig construction and commissioning and strong troubleshooting and fault-tracing skills
  • Technical skills:
  • Vector CANoe (bus communication, simulation, diagnostics)
  • CAPL scripting for test automation
  • C# and/or Python for tooling and scripting
  • Electronics fundamentals (schematics, wiring, sensors, connectors)
  • Communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
