Agenda 2030 – 17 goals for sustainable development
In 2015 the UN member states adopted the most ambitious agenda ever – Agenda 2030. The purpose is to exterminate poverty, injustice and inequality and to resolve the current climate crisis by 2030. The agenda includes 17 global goals and 169 sub-goals with the ambition of getting governments, the business sector and social actors around the world to act and work in the same direction to make the world a better place for future generations.
ALTEN Sweden’s contribution to the 17 global goals in the Agenda 2030
The business sector is a very important actor in taking this work in a positive direction and to ensuring that the 17 global goals are fulfilled by 2030. ALTEN Sweden has selected three of the 17 goals that we will work with, on until 2030. Within the framework of these goals, we have set six goals of our own that will be achieved by the year 2030 at the latest.
4.7 Education to promote sustainable development and global membership
By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development
ALTEN Sweden will hold seminars within the themes of environment and sustainability with at least 500 annual participants by 2030
We have the power to influence the behavior of future generations and their way of living. Therefore, we have set a goal to offer a solid education within the themes of environment and sustainability for students and companies around Sweden. Our goal is to have at least 500 participants annually by 2030.
8.8 Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers
Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment.
ALTEN Sweden will by the end of 2021 be certified according to ISO 45001
The international standard ISO 45001 is a tool enabling organizations to work systematically to strengthen the physical, psychological, and social health of their employees. By implementing a system that is certified according to ISO 45001, we can ensure that we are working efficiently to secure the work environment of our employees.
ALTEN Sweden will by the end of 2030 decrease work-related sick leave by 50 % compared to 2020
Occupational injuries and sick leave often result in deep and long-lasting scars on the individual, the company, and in society at large. This is an area of moral and economical importance in which ALTEN wants to improve by decreasing work-related sick leave with 50 % in 2030 compared to 2020.
ALTEN Sweden will increase the use of health-promoting benefits with 100% by 2030 compared to 2020
As a part of improving the work environment, we will also invest in increasing the consumption of our health-promoting benefits in 2030 compared with 2020.
12.2 Sustainable management and use of natural resources
By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
ALTEN Sweden will by 2030 at the latest be certified carbon neutral The effects of global warming are manifold and complex, with hidden synergies and unclear dependencies, but its existence is unmistakable and unquestionable. According to the World Bank*, if current development trends continue, 143,000,000 climate refugees from coastal areas will have to seek new homes in the western world by 2050, tropical diseases such as Zika fever and malaria will be naturally present in Nordic areas such as Copenhagen, and large areas of the Middle East will be uninhabitable due to temperatures that consistently reach above 50° C.
We do not want to be part of this negative development and see it as a clear risk for future business. Therefore, we have chosen to set a goal of achieving certified carbon neutrality by 2030.
ALTEN Sweden will apply the tools of GRI and GHG
Global Reporting Initiative and Greenhouse Gas Protocol are established tools for sustainability and CSR-related work. With these tools, we can constantly improve our control and monitoring of ourselves and our suppliers in sustainable growth. We believe in growing sustainability together!
