ALTEN is now looking for a Senior Scientist, Histology of Respiratory Diseases!

 

Are you an experienced scientist with a strong background in histology and image analysis, ready to contribute to cutting-edge research in respiratory diseases? We are seeking a Senior Scientist where you will play a key role in advancing drug discovery through expert histological analysis.

THE ROLE

In this lab-based position, you will:

  • Perform and optimize immunohistochemistry, histochemistry, and in situ hybridization using automated platforms.
  • Utilize image analysis tools to evaluate target expression and drug effects in tissue samples.
  • Apply statistical methods and quality control to ensure reliable data reporting and archiving.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and support drug discovery projects.
  • Contribute to scientific discussions, experimental planning, and data interpretation with a focus on respiratory diseases.

 

REQUIREMENT:

  • PhD in Bioscience, Respiratory Biology, or a related field, ideally with experience in drug discovery.
  • Strong experimental histology skills, including immunohistochemistry, histochemistry, and in situ hybridization using automated systems.
  • Experience with image analysis platforms.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, quality control, and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex data clearly.

 

DESIRABLE:

  • Understanding of respiratory diseases, including target mechanisms and pharmacokinetics.
  • Experience in histology scoring and histomorphometry.
  • Familiarity with deep learning image analysis.
  • Basic scripting skills (Python, R) for data modeling.
  • Knowledge of advanced techniques such as spatial transcriptomics, hyperflex staining, or tissue optical clearing.

 

TIMEFRAME: This is a consulting project, starting in September 2026.
