ALTEN is now looking for Fault Tracing Engineers for assignments with one of our clients within the heavy vehicle industry. In this role, you will work with systematic quality investigations and fault tracing within areas such as Electrical & Electronics, Connectivity, and Telematics.
About the role
As a Fault Tracing Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team working with quality investigations and root cause analysis of vehicle systems and connected services. You will analyze reported issues, investigate system behavior, identify root causes, and contribute to implementing robust solutions together with development teams and other stakeholders.
The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with analytical problem solving and close collaboration across several technical domains. Depending on your background and interests, the work may focus more on Electrical & Electronics systems, connectivity & telematics solutions, or a combination of both.
Main responsibilities
- Investigate and troubleshoot systematic quality issues within vehicle systems and connected services
- Analyze field reports, logs, technical data, and system behavior to identify root causes
- Perform fault tracing on system, component, hardware, software, and function level
- Support corrective actions and implementation of robust solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within development, testing, quality, and implementation
- Contribute to continuous improvements of products, services, and processes
- Support development of tools, methods, and proactive analysis approaches
Your profile
You are a structured and solution-oriented engineer with strong technical curiosity and problem-solving skills. You enjoy digging into complex technical issues while maintaining a holistic system perspective.
We see that you have:
- Several years of experience within the automotive industry
- Experience from fault tracing, troubleshooting, system verification, system design, or component development
- Experience within Electrical & Electronics, Connectivity, or Telematics systems
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Good understanding of the automotive product lifecycle
- Very good communication skills in English
Meritorious:
- Experience with tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Catia V5, Saber, IPEtronik, or similar
- Experience with Linux environments and log analysis
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP
- Familiarity with automotive development processes and tools
- Bus driving license (Category D)
