Women@ALTEN: Inspiration in motion
Motivation, Togetherness and Vårruset

When spring arrives, so does Vårruset, a vibrant celebration of movement, motivation and women supporting women. At ALTEN, this annual event is more than just a race. It’s an opportunity to connect, prioritise well-being and empower one another, both at the starting line and beyond.
We spoke with three participants, Sanna, Linn, and Sofia, about Vårruset, how they stay active, their roles at ALTEN and what being part of Women@ALTEN means to them.
Linn, Consultant at ALTEN Örebro

Linn is a production preparer at ALTEN, working at a client site. She finds her role particularly rewarding because it allows her to gain deep insights into how production operates and how the various functions work together to build a successful business.
Outside of work, Linn enjoys forest walks with her dog Casper and hitting the gym. Mental health is just as important to her as physical health, so she makes sure to also take time for rest and recovery.
Her motivation to join Vårruset came from her colleagues; it seemed like a great way to do something active and empowering together. “Spring is the perfect time to get outside. This race felt like a great goal to aim for. I also love that it’s all about empowering women to move, have fun, and feel good. Girl power!” she says. Her goal is to beat her time from a previous race, but above all, to enjoy the moment.
Being part of Women@ALTEN means a lot to her. She describes it as a community where women support and lift each other. Since many women work in male-dominated fields, she believes it’s important to stand together and create a space where they feel seen and heard – a place to share, grow and inspire both professionally and personally.
To women entering the tech or engineering world, she offers simple but powerful advice:
“Be curious and don’t be afraid to ask questions, no one expects you to know everything from the start. Surround yourself with people who support and cheer you on. Most importantly, enjoy the journey and trust that you belong in the room.”

Sofia, Experienced Business Manager at ALTEN Stockholm
Sofia is an Experienced Business Manager at ALTEN Stockholm, where she helps engineers find exciting opportunities aligned with their ambitions. She’s passionate about growth, both her own and her team’s.
Having had a positive experience at Vårruset last year, Sofia was keen to participate again. “It builds stronger connections among the women at ALTEN. I also appreciated how it encouraged support and camaraderie across the whole organisation,” she recalls.
She enjoys staying active through variety, playing tennis with her fiancé and keeping up her gym routine. Although she admits to being a little competitive, her main goal for the race is to stay present and feel good throughout. She views exercise as a tool for stress relief and mental clarity, so her aim is simply to enjoy the moment.
For Sofia, Women@ALTEN is a space for sharing insights, exchanging ideas and growing together, both professionally and personally. It is a supportive and inspiring environment where she can connect with other women in similar roles.
What she enjoys most in her role is the opportunity to connect people with meaningful work.

“I thrive on the challenge of matching the right people with the right roles. It’s incredibly rewarding to support engineers in their next steps while also helping clients build successful teams.”
Her advice to women considering a career in tech or engineering? “If you’re drawn to an environment that’s fast paced, innovative, and constantly evolving, don’t hesitate to dive in. It’s a journey full of learning and opportunity, and you absolutely belong there.”
Sanna, Consultant at ALTEN Örebro
Sanna is a Project Leader at ALTEN, mainly working with new development projects of large mining machines for a client. Her job is to take care of prototype assembly and the industrialisation of the new product. The daily work varies depending on which phase the projects are in.
Sanna joined Vårruset after seeing the invitation from Women@ALTEN Örebro on Teams. With many colleagues participating, it felt like a fun opportunity to connect and enjoy the great atmosphere. For her, it’s also a chance to meet other consultants and do something positive together.
She loves all kinds of sports and staying active is part of her daily life, especially with two young children who keep her moving, whether it’s a round of golf, a padel match, a jog, or kicking a ball in the backyard.
As a member of Women@ALTEN, she values being part of a supportive community.
“It’s a great community where we can share experiences and support each other. I also value the network’s efforts to inspire young girls to pursue careers in tech.”

At work, Sanna enjoys collaborating with others to reach shared goals. “The best part is when we can solve problems or just take steps forward within a project by using the different skills we have in our team. Also, there is something new to learn every day!”
Her advice to women starting out in tech or engineering is to stay open-minded and interested: “to keep asking questions and not to be afraid of mistakes!”
A shared purpose
For Sanna, Linn and Sofia, Vårruset is more than a run, it’s a celebration of movement, motivation, and meaningful togetherness. Whether through daily routines or shared kilometres, these women show what it means to support one another, in motion and mindset.
Join Women@ALTEN and be part of a supportive, inspiring community.
